The reason behind The International FemHack

FemHack Manifesto

If you are a woman, your voice is not heard enough, and that is something I have suffered myself. A few years ago, I was at an event where we were all developers, and at the end of the presentation, the person next to me turned and dismissively asked me: do you code?” -Laura Ribes, developer (Frontend Developer) at Signaturit.

Ada Lovelace, Ángela Ruiz Robles, Adele Goldberg, Radia Perlman, Edith Clarke, Hedy Lamarr... FemHack exists to make these names resonate the same in our society as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Mark Zuckerberg.

We are a team of women from Barcelona specialized in different areas who, due to the undeniable imbalance experienced by women in the technology sector, have decided to create FemHack: a female-only programming event.

Our goals are to provide more visibility to women in the technology industry and create female role models to encourage them to grow their professional careers as developers

FemHack is not just an event: it is a tool to give a voice to those who are, a guide for those who will come, and to thank those who were before us for the path they have already made for us.

And you, do you code?
